take your money elsewhere!

that's what banks are telling people. Atleast for consumer banking. It seems that what I thought from my last bad experiences was true.. The banking industry has no interest with consumer market.. they don't care about what chicken feed money you and me put away each months.. you and I are mere inconviniences to them.. if it's up to the banking industry, nobody would be abel to open any saving/ current accoutns, just companies and corporations, please..

Yes they don't care about you.. not only that they have made it very very inconvinient for you and me to open a new accout and put least number of people possible at theur counters, they also going to make it hard for you to come and do your puny banking with them..

They have decided to open only durign the times that you and me could not make it to their offices.. at times when you are busiest, workign days only from 9:15am to 4:30pm.. heck.. why bother to be open at all.. they opens way after my office hours starts and closes your door way before my office hours stops.. and during lunch time they will put 1 staff for each 5 counters that they have. We got it, we're just not important enough for the banking industry.

So take your money elsewhere.. simpan dalam bantal lagi bagus.... pplus with the current interest rate, you actually loses money when in your saving accounts, with annual service charges and everything...

Five-day banking week inconvenient for those working

PETALING JAYA: It's a terrible inconvenience – that's what the majority of those who were approached in a street poll here said about the new five-day workweek for banks.

Secretary Yani Hamdan, 31, said: “For those of us who are working, the only time we can go to the bank is on Saturdays, but soon we won't be able to do even that.

“It's so inconvenient as we'll have to find our own way to do our banking. They really shouldn't close on Saturdays.”

She added that although many banks provided online services “not everyone has the Internet at home.”

Engineer Karen Kua, 28, said there was no necessity to close banks on Saturdays, noting that Malaysia “already has so many public holidays.”

“Even if the Government wants to promote local tourism, people wouldn’t be travelling every single weekend now, would they? I think having the banks open two Saturdays a month is not too much to ask,” she said.

However, some said they would not mind having the banks closed on Saturdays, provided that they had longer hours during weekdays.

Jason Shiraj, 27, said that if banks opened till 6pm, for example, the people could still carry out banking activities after work.

“It'd be good also if banks have more ATMs around which open till late at night,” he said.

The Association of Banks in Malaysia had on Wednesday announced the move to have a five-day workweek. Several banks have announced they were adopting a five-day week from Feb 1.

Bumiputra Commerce Bank said it would be open from 9.15am to 4.45pm from Mondays to Thursdays (Sundays to Wednesdays for Kelantan and Terengganu), and from 9.15am to 4.15pm on Fridays (Thursdays for Kelantan and Terengganu).

The bank's branches at KLCC and Komtar in Penang are currently open seven days a week, from 10am to 6pm, while their 25 service kiosks operate every day from 11am to 7pm.

Maybank said in a press statement that banking hours would be revised to 9.15am to 4.30pm on Mondays to Thursday, and from 9.15am to 4pm on Fridays.

For Kelantan and Terengganu, it will be 9.15am to 4.30pm from Sundays to Wednesdays, and from 9.15am to 4pm on Thursdays.

The bank will also open on Saturdays from 11am to 2pm at 26 branches nationwide. These branches are primarily located at major shopping complexes and high customer-traffic areas.

Citibank said their new hours would be from 9.30am to 4pm on weekdays, and from 9.30am to noon on Saturdays except for the first and third Saturdays of the month.
